 It’s true that every party and event depends on music…… and just a CD player doesn’t get the job done anymore Our story starts back in 1979, back when the Sahara Desert experienced snow for 30 minutes for the first time, when big hair was a blessing and bell bottoms were a must, when shorts couldn’t get shorter and parties couldn’t get wilder. It was no doubt, a time period filled with a lot of change and a lot of controversy. This same year, Nadeem Ashrafi, a young, dedicated, individual combined his passion for music and talent for computer programs, and merged his skills to develop an interesting technique which he used to create the sounds of hundreds of musicians, and thus established Heartbeats; his music band that year. Growing up, Nadeem was greatly influenced by his father, who was a sitar player, he would learn patiently as his father introduced him to the world of classical music. Nearly three decades later, Nadeem became one of Houston’s most recognized professional singers. He’s got an amazing resume of experience, distinguishing him as an exceptional organizer, singer, and performer in America and Canada. Since no band is complete without a female vocalist, Geeta Kris was brought on board the Heartbeats team. Born in Bombay, Geeta, at the age of five began her passion for singing. She practiced in Hindi, Gujrati, and many other South Indian languages at a very young age. Geeta shared her artistic talent numerous times on stage with various Bollywood play back artists, as well as famous South Indian playback singer, Chitra. For the past fifteen years that Geeta made singing her career, she has thought of music as her God, her love, and her passion. Two more vital members of Heartbeats, include male vocalists: Mohsin Jangda and Shayak Rahman. Mohsin, who has been singing for the past twelve years is said to have the voice of Mukesh. He has done several tours with famous Bollywood singers, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Shrya Ghoshal, Suniti Chauhan, and many more! Child prodigy, Shayak, proved to be one of the best all-rounded, flexible singers in Houston. He’s been flexing his vocals for the past four years to the hottest new and old Bollywood songs. With mind-blowing vocalists capturing the hearts of their audience, we need someone to bring the beat! There is no doubt that drummer, Darshak, puts the “beat” in HEARTBEATS! By profession, Darshak was a well known lawyer from Gujrat who pursued his passion for music by joining the band and becoming the energetic, versatile drummer and octapad player he is well known for today.
